My experience with the technical residency at In The Round Productions has been invaluable to my career as a computer programmer.  As you may know, it is very difficult to get a job in your field without real-world experience.  Simply putting the residency on my resume substantially increased my chances of getting a job.  But the In The Round residency was much more than just another piece of information to add to my resume.

At the time I graduated from college, I had a lot of knowledge about programming, but very little programming experience.  In The Round helped me turn that knowledge into a set of skills that I will use from now on.  I learned organizational skills, self-teaching skills, and I developed successful work habits, simply because I was put into a situation with real-world work and real-world deadlines.  Naturally, I also learned many skills directly related to the field of computer programming.

All of this learning and growing occurred because of the good work environment provided by In The Round.  There was always help and encouragement available to help me become a better programmer.

If you are thinking about applying for the In The Round technical residency, I would definitely recommend it.  Thanks to the residency, I was able to get a great permanent programming position at a local company. Whether you don't yet have real-world experience or just want to expand your abilities, the In The Round residency is sure to be an extremely valuable resource.
