Beyond his role as lead developer and programmer, Ben is our standards-bearer—responsible for developing, maintaining, and enforcing the standards and best practices for all code, database design, and documentation created at In The Round. He is also an accomplished system administrator, having previously worked in the telecom and ISP industries. However, he is one of those rare IT types who are also skilled at translating from technical jargon into plain English for the rest of us.

A frequent contributor to various Open Source projects including the Comprehensive Perl Archive Network, Ben and is also a member of the Northeast Ohio chapter of the Information Systems Security Association. He is currently working towards his Microsoft Certified Professional Developer certification.

Ben is originally from Tennessee, which is the deep south to the rest of us Ohioans. When he can pry his fingers away from the computer keyboard, he applies them to strings—that is the guitar, mandolin, and mountain dulcimer.
